Letters

Posted on June 14, 2016
To the editor,

I was seriously pissed as I read an article about the Battery Park City Authority’s interest in removing the colonnade on South End Avenue.

The street as it is, is pleasant and allows choices of sun or shade and so on.

However my more serious question is why the BPCA continues to promote efforts of little benefit to residents or local businesses while ignoring important matters such as the need to extend the land lease.

There are many reasons why the land lease is a critical matter but my particular concern relates to HUD rules regarding reverse mortgages.
(Matthew Fenton wrote an article about this matter for theĀ Broadsheetabout five years ago).

I have lived here since 1981 and prefer to remain but this may not be possible unless the land lease is extended
