Open-Air Fare

Posted on October 7, 2025

Food Fests Abound Downtown in October

Today (Tuesday, October 7) the Downtown Alliance will host Lunch Box: a food fair that features pop-up outposts of ten local restaurants (many of them recently opened in Lower Manhattan), each offering a boxed lunch for $10 that includes one main dish and two sides. The event, to which admission is free, will be held at Fosun Plaza, the 2.5 acre, open-air deck at 28 Liberty Street (the building formerly known as One Chase Plaza), from 11:30am to 2:30pm.

Participants at the fourth annual Lunch Box event will include Āne Restaurant & Bar, the newly opened Fogo de Chão World Trade Center, Friedmans, Lucky Tiger, Otani, Palm Street, Patsy’s Pizzeria, Power Bowls, Quick Eternity, and Seamore’s Lobster Shack @ the Hungry Pearl. For details, including restaurant menus, please click here.

This Saturday, October 11, salmon worshippers will gather at Pier 16 (near the tall ship Wavertree), where the legendary Fulton Fish Market – based at South Street Seaport for nearly 200 years before moving to Hunts Point in the Bronx in 2005 – will present the first-ever LoxFest, dedicated to the salty, smoked slice of deliciousness that has been fueling New York’s nervous energy since fishing boat captains first began haggling with merchants on the East River. Tickets begin at $32.50 per person (for two food vouchers and one drink voucher). Participating vendors include Cheech’s, Fan Fan Doughnuts, Gertie, Hole In The Wall, the Paris Café, Zucker’s Bagels & Smoked Fish, Cafecito Social, 19 Cleveland, Tompkins Square Bagels, Casa Cugine, Peck Slip Social, and Loser’s Eating House. This event is staged in two sessions, from 10am to noon, and 1pm through 3pm. For more information, please click here.

On Saturday, October 25, from noon to 4pm, Piers 16 and 17 will host the 15th anniversary edition of Taste of the Seaport – the annual fundraiser that benefits two local public schools: Peck Slip and Spruce Street – with food from dozens of Lower Manhattan restaurants, wares from local shops, live music featuring local artists and musicians, and a KidZone with demonstrations and activities. A ticket price of $60 buys you six “tastes” from the local restaurants participating this year, including Delmonico’s, Luchadores, Carne Mare, Il Brigante, Osteria del Porto, Joseph’s, La Marchande, and Malibu Farm. Other street fairs for Lower Manhattan gastronauts to consider indulging in this month include Smorgasburg, every Friday through October 24 at the World Trade Center Oculus plaza, and the annual Columbus Day weekend street fair on October 12 and 13 that will close Broadway from Liberty Street south.
