Outdoor Lunchfest and Concert Series Enliven Downtown Streetscape
On Wednesday, June 11, the Downtown Alliance will host a Lower Manhattan lunchtime tradition, Dine Around Downtown, on the open-air plaza at 28 Liberty Street, where 48 restaurants will converge to offer signature menu items for $5 to $10.
Now in its third decade, Dine Around Downtown will welcome first-time vendors such as Café Jalu (from the new Printemps department store), Brooklyn Chop House, and La Marchande, as well as returning favorites ranging from Adrienne’s Pizzabar to Watermark.
As part of the Alliance’s ongoing commitment to a sustainable Lower Manhattan, Dine Around Downtown is a zero-waste event. Attendees will find triple-waste recycling stations located throughout the plaza.
The Downtown Alliance is also restarting its “Art Is All Around” summer lunchtime concert series, which brings live music and dance to a pair of outdoor venues every Wednesday through July 9.
Alternating between the plaza in front of 140 Broadway (near the Noguchi “Red Cube” sculpture) and the Oculus World Trade Center’s north plaza, this program will feature jazz, blues, salsa, bolero, cha-cha-cha, soul and pop music along with tap, swing and modern jazz dancing. All performances begin at noon and are free to attend.
