Dear editor:
Wow – that was fast! Dennis Mehiel steps down from the BPCA Board.
Martha Gallo is nominated by Governor Cuomo and confirmed by the State Senate that same evening. And there is another local on the verge of being selected.
Just one question: Who does our governor ask for input on these selections?
I hope the new board member(s) will be available for interviews and will express their opinions on the big issues before the Authority, whether they are permitted to vote on them or not.
I do want to acknowledge Dennis Mehiel’s leadership, specifically presiding over a turn around in community relations. That was not an easy change for the Authority to make, and selecting BJ Jones as the CEO confirms this move in the right direction.
