Food Fest Offers Midday Meal for Decuple Dineros
Today (Tuesday, October 10), the Downtown Alliance will host Lunch Box: a pop-up food fair that brings together ten local restaurants (many of them recently opened in Lower Manhattan), each offering a boxed lunch for $10, each including one main dish and two sides. The outdoor event (to which admission is free) will be held at Fosun Plaza, the 2.5 acre plaza at 28 Liberty Street (the building formerly known as One Chase Plaza) from 11:30am to 2:30pm. As part of the Alliance’s ongoing sustainability program, Lunch Box will also be a zero-waste event, with composting and recycling stations located throughout the plaza.
“Come hungry and plan to try a couple different boxes,” advises Alliance president Jessica Lappin, “because this year’s event highlights the diversity of culinary options found Downtown. Lunch Box provides our community with a great opportunity to get to know some of the neighborhood’s newest restaurants at an affordable value.”
Participants at the second annual Lunch Box event include: BioPoke, Boss Tweeds, Cebichelsea, Dim Sum Palace, Havana Social, Henry’s Sandwich, MCM Coffee, Mughlai Indian Cuisine, Poulette Rotisserie, and Sammy’s Taqueria. Click here for more information, including restaurant menus.
When it’s not hosting food-a-paloozas, the mission of the Downtown Alliance is to enhance Lower Manhattan for businesses, residents, and visitors. In furtherance of these goals, the Alliance not only operates the local Business Improvement District, but also provides local security and trash pickup. Among the services furnished by the Alliance that Lower Manhattan residents especially prize is the Downtown Connection, a red shuttle bus that ferries passengers free of charge between more than 30 local stops south of Chambers Street, as part of a partnership with the Battery Park City Authority.
Consider returning to Fosun Plaza this Saturday, October 14, between 9am and 1pm, to see CarPark, a curated exhibition of vintage autos and collectible cars. The event will showcase 60-plus vehicles, from modern supercars to vintage Ferraris (including a 1972 Dino, an F430 Scuderia, a 458 Speciale, and a 488 Pista), in addition to Porsches, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins (Vantages and Vanquishes), and the 1968 Jaguar Eagle Low Drag Coupe. Along with vintage Mercedes G wagons and Range Rovers, Polestar will have its latest electric vehicle model on-site for attendees to test drive. Manhatta and Alamo Drafthouse will serve food and beverages, and live music will be provided by brass party band, the Shag Horns.
