Tag: Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
In regard to Mr. Goodkind’s letter in the April 28 BroadsheetDAILY that suggests BPC should become part of New York City:With corruption appearing to ooze out in many directions from the Mayor’s office, why would anyone want to place Battery Park City under the city’s control?

A far better solution would be to increase local representation on the BPCA board; given all the neighborhood concern, it seems probable that this will eventually happen.

Ironically, Mr. Goodkind’s letter appears directly below the Broadsheet article which discusses downtown construction and includes this quote, “Seven weeks ago, four elected officials  representing Lower Manhattan wrote to City Hall for…oversight of construction in Lower Manhattan. They have yet to receive the courtesy of a reply”.

Why in the world would we want to subject our community to the unresponsiveness or worseof City Hall?

Troubles on Wall Street

To the editor: How might locals fight the introduction of this venue? 55 Wall already congests the narrow, one-way streets terribly. Warm regards, Roark Dunn Editor’s reply: Residents are welcome to attend meetings of Community Board 1’s Financial District Committee (usually on the first Wednesday of each month), as well as that of Community Board...

Letters Department – February 12th

To the editor: Every year I read about the vast sum for “affordable” housing that Battery Park City’s unique revenue sources provide, this year a record $167 million. But never has this sum ever been tracked to specific affordable housing projects by anyone. Scott Stringer promised this, as did other electeds. Certain projects have been...

Sailing and the North Cove Marina

To the Editor: cc: Commodore Michael Fortenbaugh We are writing in support of the North Cove Marina Management of the North Cove. We are a new family to Battery Park City. One of the primary reasons we moved to the area was the beautiful, accessible and family-friendly North Cove waterfront and the Manhattan Yacht Club’s...
